Planned New Map

I feel like the maps I made so far are okay, but not great.
I'm now working on making the first real, good map of the game.

Below is a very rough draft layout plan of the map!

It's a King of the Hill map.
The black paths represent paths players will be able to take, and the empty areas will be filled with buildings/walls.
Time to get from spawn to control points is around 9 seconds.

Respawn At Captured Points

In order to better deal with larger maps where it may take longer to get from spawn point to the action, I'm planning on add the ability to respawn at captured control points (in KOTH gamemode).

Other changes

Added

  • Added footstep sounds!
  • Added level name and image to loading screen
  • Added ability for bots to fire rocket launchers!
    • Bots will switch to, and fire the rocket launcher if there are more than three enemies grouped together
  • CTF: Added sound effects for capturing/returning flags
  • QOL: Made is so 'bot count' setting is saved
  • QOL: Added small colored shadow effect to minimap to better highlight current team
  • Improved bot AI in CTF gamemode
  • Balancing: Increased bot respawn delay from 4 seconds to 6

Fixed

  • Fixed player scores not getting counted in CTF
    • Players get a score point for returning enemy flag to their capture zone
    • Players get a score point for defending their flag (killing an enemy within 15 units of their flag)
  • 'Hit from direction' marks not appearing
  • Adjusted player hit sound effect volumes
  • Adjusted where bots aim at enemy targets
  • Slightly improved loading screen UX
  • Fixed weapon animation not triggering on bots
